Ponyo Ramen
Ingredients
2-3 thin slices of deli ham
1 package shin black ramyun noodles
1 tbsp butter
1/4 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
Toppings
1-2 green onions, chopped
1 ramen egg (soft-boiled egg marinated in sweetened soy sauce)
Directions
Cut your ham slices into roughly 2-inch strips. I cut mine in half, and then in half again to make four strips per slice. They will shrivel a bit as they cook, so make sure not to cut them too small.
Heat a saucepan over medium heat. Add in the butter and sesame oil. Heat until the butter has completely melted and started to bubble.
Add in your ham strips and give them a quick stir. Then add in your soy sauce and sugar. Stir again to combine.
Cook the ham strips for 3-4 minutes, or until they start to brown and crisp up around the edges.
Remove the cooked ham from the pan and set aside.
In the same saucepan, pour in 2 and 1/2 cups of water (per ramen package instructions) and bring to a boil.
Once your water is boiling, add in the ramen seasoning packet and noodles. Cook noodles per package instructions (typically 4-5 minutes).
When your ramen is done cooking, transfer to a bowl and top with reserved ham strips, green onion, and ramen egg. Serve immediately.
